The Future of Advertising?

The Multiproduct Commercial from Therefore Productions on Vimeo.

An interesting concept clearly used as a joke in this video. However multi product advertising would have its advantages. Companies would share the cost on expensive spots and only have to come up with half the creative. Coke and Pepsi have appeared in ads together but primarily only in Pepsi commercials targeting Cokes number 1 spot by saying their truck drivers and customers like Pepsi over Coke.

Other companies have teamed up before in the advertising world like Mc Donald's advertises the Coca-Cola they serve or Walmart the Tylenol they sell. But the idea that products can be advertised at the same time as long as they are not competing is genius. For example a commercial could depict a student using a five star binder at the library. He utilizes it features and shows off it durability by throwing his feet on top and takes a break with a kit kat. Both products are featured equally sharing top billing and no sales are compromised because the products are very different. The price is undoubtably lower for companies and the consumers are happy, or confused.

Advertisers will probably bite the bullet on this one having to come up with ads for multiple products could be difficult, not to mention they will probably make less money. That being said I firmly believe this is a horrible idea and hope it never happens because I want to make lots of money, like I'm talking boat money!

  2. I think the thing that's holding people back is the fact they think they have to be the main focus of the commercial or people will get their messages mixed up.

    I like boats too.
